ABOUT CONTRACTOR.MBA

You learned the trade on the job. Nobody trained you for the rest of it.

Ā

Most contractors earn their skills one jobsite at a time. Then one day the phone is ringing, the crew is growing, the bids are bigger, and you're also the one making every pricing, hiring, cash, and risk decision.

That part usually doesn't come with training. It comes with mistakes.

Contractor.MBA exists so it doesn't have to.

WHY WE BUILT IT

We kept seeing great contractors carry more than they should have to

Ā

Contractor.MBA started with a pattern we saw across the industry over and over.

Talented contractors who were excellent at their craft. Booked out. Respected.Ā  And still underpricing jobs, still short on cash, still working every hour, still hiring without getting any relief.

Clearly the skill wasn't the issue. The weight was. These contractors were making high-stakes business decisions with no reps, no framework, and no one in their corner.

Too often, help showed up only after something had already gone wrong.Ā

SO WE ASKED A DIFFERENT QUESTION

What if contractors got conditioned for those decisions before they turned into emergencies?

CONTRACTOR CONDITIONINGā„¢

Not more information.

Better conditioning.

Contractors don't need another pile of tips. You already have enough on your plate. What builds a stronger contractor is the same thing that builds a stronger fighter: reps, coaching, and pressure you can train against before the real fight.-Ā

01

Reading your numbers and knowing what they're telling you

02

Pricing work so it protects your margin

03

Making hiring and operations decisions with a clear head

04

Seeing risk early

05

Knowing what your company needs next, and why

Every lesson connects back to money: making it, keeping it, protecting your margin, and avoiding costly mistakes.

HOW IT WORKS

Built around how contractors actually learn.

Live Contractor Conditioning Sessions

Work through real business decisions together, out loud, in the room. No lectures you sit through. Reps you take.

Training Boards and Reps

Practical exercises built on real contractor situations. You commit to an answer, see what happened, and learn why.

The Conditioning Room

A space to ask questions, compare notes, and keep training between sessions with contractors who understand the work.

No accounting degree required. No business school vocabulary required.

Just a willingness to get stronger.

WHO IT'S FOR

Built for the contractor who's ready for the next level.

It isn't a get-rich-quick program. It's conditioning.

It takes reps, and it works because it does.

Ā

Contractor.MBA is for contractors who:
  • Are good at the work and want to get just as strong at running the company
  • Are growing, or want to grow, without it costing them their health, their family time, or their margin
  • Want to qualify for bigger opportunities and be ready when those opportunities come
  • Would rather prepare now than recover laterĀ
TWO PERSPECTIVES. ONE MISSION.

Built by people who've been in the room with contractors.

Contractor.MBA was co-founded by Erick and Leslie Soderberg through Rooted Mission.

We came to this work from different professional backgrounds, and that difference became one of the strengths of what we were building.

Erick Soderberg, Co-Founder and Lead Instructor

Erick spent years working with businesses through commercial lending, later operated as a general contractor, and has worked in contractor advocacy, business development, partnerships, and economic-development environments.

He saw what happened when capable contractors reached opportunities their companies were not yet prepared to support.

Ā

Erick helps contractors connect the decisions they make every day to the numbers, systems, and risks behind the business.

His work is built around practical reps, plain language, and helping contractors get stronger before the pressure hits.

Leslie Soderberg, Co-Founder and COO

Leslie's work has centered on people, organizations, systems, operations, technology, learning experiences, and building the infrastructure that allows ideas to function at scale.

She saw the other half of the problem:

Knowing what someone needs to learn is not enough.

You also have to build an environment where they can practice it, use it, retain it, and turn it into behavior.

Leslie brings the systems, operations, and learning design that make Contractor.MBA work beyond the lesson itself.

She helps turn strong teaching into a clear experience contractors can follow, practice, and apply.

What does the contractor need to know?

How do we help them become capable of actually doing it?

Contractor.MBA grew out of those two perspectives.

Contractor.MBA is a program of Rooted Mission LLC.

Stronger Contractor. Stronger Business.

The work made you a contractor. Conditioning makes you a stronger one.

OUR STORY

Ā

Ā

Leslie's work has centered on people, organizations, systems, operations, technology, learning experiences, and building the infrastructure that allows ideas to function at scale.

She saw the other half of the problem:

Knowing what someone needs to learn is not enough.

You also have to build an environment where they can practice it, use it, retain it, and turn it into behavior.

What does the contractor need to know?

How do we help them become capable of actually doing it?

Contractor.MBA grew out of those two perspectives.

A LARGER MISSION

PART OF ROOTED MISSION.

Contractor.MBA is a Rooted Mission company.

Rooted Mission builds education, experiences, and economic-development initiatives around a broader belief:

People become more capable when they are given the opportunity to build, practice, create, and apply what they know.

Contractor.MBA brings that philosophy into the contracting industry.

Our focus here is clear:

Develop stronger contractors.

Build stronger businesses.

Prepare those businesses for stronger opportunities.

THE WORK CONTINUES

WE ARE BUILDING FOR THE LONG TERM.

Contractor.MBA is not intended to be one course.

It is a developmental journey.

Through Business Foundations, Business Operations & Profitability, Capacity & Growth, and Commercial Readiness, contractors can continue strengthening the business as the complexity of the company changes.

And we expect the work to keep evolving.

Because contractors will keep teaching us.

The businesses will keep changing.

The market will keep changing.

New opportunities will create new demands.

Our responsibility is to keep building education worthy of the people doing the work.
